Hardin Hotel in West Fork, Arkansas, circa 1905

Hardin Hotel, West Fork, (Washington County), circa 1905. Located across the tracks from the West Fork railroad depot, the hotel was a popular lodging destination for traveling salesmen. According to local historian Robert Winn, rooms cost fifty cents to one dollar per night, with meals for an extra twenty-five cents. Winn wrote, "The Hardin Hotel was long operated by Mrs. Hardin, a motherly soul who permitted young people of the town to dance in the hotel dining room on Sudan afternoons, this in defiance of many area parents who forbade dancing."
