Arthur Boone's Banjo
Donated by Juanita Boone Duncan

Arthur Boone (1884-1972) was born in Ava, Missouri. He lived in Harrison, Arkansas before moving to Springdale in in 1901. Even though he suffered from eye problems, Boone was a successful carpenter and farmer who enjoyed playing the banjo, guitar, and fiddle. He bought this banjo sometime before his marriage to Elsie Neeley in 1920. Once, Arthur and his son, James Vannes Boone, won a music contest held on Emma Avenue in downtown Springdale.
